lip syncing

Our music video now has lip singing in it as most of the videos now have some sort of singing in it so to keep up with the trend and expectations of contemporary music. The artist that is singing on our song, Delilah, is a girl so a female had to lip sync the words.
The format of the shots of these scenes is we did it in the recording studio with two bright lights in front and behind the singer to create a shadow on her face. This will also be in black and white to differentiate that she is the artist and the other characters are just telling a story. There is a fade in the editing that we did in the studio where the solid picture is side on then there is a front take that is faded over the top at the same time. All these things show a similarity in the story as well because there are dark and happy side
s to the relationship that the couple share. So the focus is on the narrative and so it unfolds there isn’t going to be lots of singing footage but it just shows the artist and links the song and story together.

Christina Perry’s song ‘Jar of hearts’ shows this well as the clips of her singing are close ups or mid body shots to establish she is the singer; we have done this as well. Even though she takes part in most of the video and walks to show she’s interacting with the dancers and she’s telling the story and is part of it; we haven’t, we just had the girl stood and singing, so she looks sad and doesn’t need to be involved in the narration. Also the colours in Christina’s video are weak and drained to show it’s not a particularly happy story line. This is also why we have made our singing black and white.

Ideas for location

One of the video we looked at and us decide where the locations should have been was Chase and Status ft Plan B. the video targeted the exact same audience we were trying to attract and as seen they where all in urban locations in city centre or estate houses to try and make the video relate to the kind of people that would watch it. As seen from the picture above we see the old man from the video cast in the tunnel which shows graffiti on the wall which is colourful and appeals to them and give a clear cut idea of the audience we are targeting.

In the video “Jungle” by professor green we clearly see the hooded men and a youth on the bike that gave us the idea of the intimidating look by making some places dim and dark or perhaps have a scene where Remial or other are acting as social youths e.g. drinking, fighting or anything linked with boy measures to give more of the ghetto urban look for the audience as young youth that would be what we would like to see.

Costume and props

Clothing and props used in his video where fairly common and average wear. As we see Remeil where a purple hoodie which stereotypes him as mainly a normal youth. We see the same with Sammy as she is also wearing a hoodie further giving stereotype as well. The clothes used help give the theme that we were trying to bring across as young clumsy and urban, which I believe the clothing and the props help contribute to the music video. The original ideas had the dress sense mainly adult themed but came to the conclusion that we would have to keep it urban due to keep the message of the song and for the clothing to have relativity to the song which is mainly attractive to the sort of people we were trying to act out. Through clothing and the giving of the stereotype could we then act out in the image we created.

album covers

In this album cover we see the modern future of society being rounded up in one image of urban life which the aimed audience would know of which is the street life mainly as we see graffiti walls which could highlight the main feature of what is to be expected from the album.

In this cover we see the chase and status with time under it but highlighted in a different cover to advertise music video with the chase and status being the released song with a video.

The album cover is highlighted in a different color to give an urban and more streetwise credibility to the video, helping boost the identity of what they would have to expect in the album. This can be used to attract as well cause this cover is pleasin gto the eyes of the main audience which would be teenagers and some adults that have a liking to drum and bass type of music.

lyrics of music one of the videos analyzed

plan_b.jpg

Chase & Status featuring Plan B - End Credits Lyrics

When the blood dries in my veins
And my, heart feels no more pain
I know, I’ll be on my way
To heaven’s door

I know when I’m not
I’ll be hoping I don’t drop
To a place where I will rise, like before
(2x)

I can feel, something happening
That I’ve never felt before
Hopeless dreaming will start
Dragging me away from heavens door
(2x)

When my mind stops thinking
And my eyes stop blinking
I hope…
Somebody’s there

And my heart stops beating
And my lungs stop breathing
In air…
I hope somebody cares

When the blood dries in my veins
And my, heart feels no more pain
I know, I’ll be on my way
To heaven’s door

I know when I’m not
I’ll be hoping I don’t drop
To a place where I will rise, like before
(2x)

I can feel, something happening
That I’ve never felt before
Hopeless dreaming will start
Dragging me away from heavens door

When my mind stops thinking
And my eyes stop blinking
I hope…
Somebody’s there

And my heart stops beating
And my lungs stop breathing
In air…
I hope somebody cares

When my mind stops thinking
And my eyes stop blinking
I know…
At the end

Meaning to the song

In these lyrics we see what he tends to describe the voice of the voiceless. In the first paragraph he talks about pain and the blood drying in his veins and that he will be in heavens doors he is talking mainly of the end, that he is saying that he is ready to die.

The second paragraph talks of where is from and that he does want to go back to where he was from and die there saying that he doesn’t want to die where he lived like a struggle to leave the area that he has been raised in, like he is trying to escape.

The chorus he says that he is being from heaven door perhaps saying that he is stopped from going heaven cause of all the bad things that he has done and that he acknowledges it as well and the talk about hopeless dreams is that they are about to start perhaps saying that he is begging to believe in them showing that it is nearly the end.

In the next paragraph he talk of when he dies as we hear him say when he stops blinking that someone is there showing that he doesn’t want to die on his own as the end is close.

In the next one he is clearly showing signs of fear when he talks as he says he hopes someone cares when he dies probably wanting someone to show sympathy or help maybe.

In the last on he is dying and he talks of the end and that he is the as he finally says he is at the end perhaps saying hat he is going to die.

Posters

Add Image

In this poster we see an advertisement of the album remix bundle as a way to boost the album coming out with the head song saying Tinchy Stryder and Melanie Fiona track let it rain. The background has a wall with graffiti showing the track relates to the audience of the targeted group which is a mainly young teenage person showing that he is streetwise. Him in the poster shows a faded image of him trying to bring creativity to the album probably showing that he is still street even though he has broken into America, showing he has loyalty to his fans in the UK section. In this poster he is showing by the clothing that he has grown in the hood and is highlighted by the clothing he is wearing as before he was wearing hoodies but now has changed to sensible clothing showing the fans that he has changed but his style still hasn’t .

We see a poster of Plan B’s first album and poster advertising his first album with him not being as well known as most UK artist we see a picture of him to try and boost his persona and give him more publicity to the audience of who he is and what he stands for. The poster shows him in the dark on his own showing vulnerability as it says Stricklands bank showing that he is against the banks destroying the economy of this being a rebellion against the bank to him it’s the oppression of the rich against the working class people and sees it to him being a war between them. We see that he is in a suit to boost that image of him being against the rich and the state he is in shows what the working class man fells as well. Plan b on the stage shows it in the way of a presentation like he is trying to expose it to the people on a high scale and uses the stage to emphasis this as we see he is using the New York Broadway theme giving that 1950’s look to the poster during the time of the banks era and time of wall street crash.

In this poster we see peoples head being shown as cabbages which is also known as being a green vegetable which relates to his name which is professor green giving the comedy factor to the poster and showing that he has different followers as well by the way he is able to bring loads of genre groups as we see Marilyn Monroe , Elvis and other iconic people who is covered by the green cabbage maybe trying to show that he either embodies those characters of their genre or that mainly he is iconic , better than they are showing arrogance perhaps making a statements which can be seen as disrespecting there legacy maybe sending a message that he is better than them or he is the next great as we see a person that represents his style of music as seen to the left of the poster or perhaps him being the larger cabbage head

emphasizing that he is greater than they where .

equipment used

This tripod is a Megax tripod amateur addition which is very good as it has

: Has good stability

: Adjustable to any conditions as well as size adjusted

: Has good handling and can be placed in compact places

: Has various settings and features that can be compare to proffessional equipment with great stability and good wipe pan moement.

To do this analysis of the camera we had to look through various websites to find one the all the information and went to Argos which gave a detail and very precise info of the camera.

With the Canon LEGRIA FS306 camcorder you shoot straight to memory cards and the Video Snapshot feature allows you to edit clips and add music in-camera. Camcorder model number LEGRIA FS306 Flash camcorder. Silver . 37 x optical zoom. 2000 x digital zoom. 2.7in LCD screen. Memory card compatibility: SD SDHC. DIGIC DV II picture processing. Dolby digital 2 channel sound. Features Auto and manual focus. 11 exposure modes. Image stabilisation. Multiple fade and wipe combinations. Built-in lens cover. PictBridge compatible. The weaknesses is that the revolution of the camera is not that good to take great shot and has the fault of it being very weak and easily breakable. It is not water-resistant meaning if it is raining it would be difficult to film which could slow down production and make filming days hard to set up. However the camera is very adjustable and can be put in different angles and since so small it can be easy to carry and give good point of view shots and can take info from the camera with ease as well.

location shots

The opening scene to our music video is when the main male character jumps off a wall and commits suicide. For this sequence we have found a wall near the river that would be a perfect location. The wall isn’t that high so the character can jump off and we can get good shots still. We are going to make the wall look higher than it is to add suspense and the audience can feel sympathy and feel scared that he’s going to be jumping off a high wall that will hurt him. To achieve this we will have a low angle shot up towards the top of the wall to create the height of the wall. We will also have a high angled shot showing him on the floor after he has jumped and is lying there dead. This will show the impact the jump and fall had on him and how his day had ended up. From this angle we can see the height and the rest of the location and mis en scene as it looks like a public place as there is a path and a bridge that he falls on and near by; however it’s quite private as no one is near or walking past and so is a quiet location.

In the house where his girlfriend is it starts in a bedroom when he wakes up. We will show the bed and the couple in it and make the lighting right so it looks like the morning when he wakes up. Throughout this scene we follow the male but keep props and furniture in the shots so people can tell he’s still at his home. We also show a table with photos of the couple as he walks out of the house.

Another scene is at a job center as we are showing he wants to get his life on track and get a job. We will stand at the other side of the road so we get a clear view of the door and where it is set, to get the male walking in. We will then zoom or lift the camera so we can see the writing clearly and read that it says ‘job center’. We could also just have him walking through the door on a middle long shot then focus on the writing so we can’t tell what door he’s walking into till the end when on the words.

Where the man dies there is a tramline and so this would be good to show the time of day and a sense of the place he is in. Also it shows the viewers that it’s in a rural location in the present time.

When the male is walking around drinking the locations will jump from in a park, to on the street and in a public place like town. These will show different times of the day and the fact that he’s still drinking. By having the locations at different levels of publicity and how many people are around him will show that he doesn’t seem to care who is watching him and who knows what he’s doing.

He goes back into the house but this time they argue in the living room and kitchen. This will show different side to the couple and different props and feeling as it is in a different part of the house; It will have a comfy homely look to it like any other house, also it will look as if a young couple live in it not with children’s toys or things a larger family would have in their home.

The man’s lovers’ house will look normal and mainly focused on the doorway so we won’t show the rest of the house or flat so we won’t establish where it is. This will be as if we are still keeping the man’s secret of an affair hidden. The next location is in the bedroom of the bed, we won’t show too much of the items in the room as she isn’t a main character and we don’t need to show her personality through her room as we did for the relationship with the couple as it’s their life that is mainly their life that is affected by this incident. For the argument we will show a bit more of the room but not in detail and close ups.

There is another focus on the door as he walks into his own house again. Then a focus on the couch where she is cheating on the man with another man, There might be things on the floor to suggest things have been going on and these would be clear in the shot.

For when the male is drinking and walking around to different locations he might end up in an archway, which is near to where the male jumps and dies. This shows a depressive dark place to emphasis his emotions. It is a dirty place and by this time he would look rough as he’s been drinking and walking for most of the day. He also walks down a path parallel to the canal where there is a jump shot. The male ends up at a bench where he then lies and sleeps rough for the night.

The shot when there are bin bags outside of the house we will show most of the house so we know who I it that is kicking him out and is angry with him.

The split screen again will show his girlfriend with a shot of the majority of the room to symbolize how alone in their house she is now and because she is crying she regrets what happened. The mans secret lover is now with another man and this be a more close up and intimate shot so again we won’t be showing much of the room and surroundings.

The final scene is a repeat of the first but in more detail and more different shots; so the location and surroundings will be the same.

album covers

In this album cover we see the main characters in the album as well as giving the audience humor at the same time with them holding loads of food which they obviously will not eat on there own showing great greed at the same time. This cover is simple an is very specific to what audience they are aiming for as well giving people a clear cut imagination to what they would find in the album mainly the fans or people that don’t know of them. The background is natural no green screen or special effect except the lighting which we can see is a special effect .

Ed Sheerans cover is very recognizable as we see the orange setting which works with the hair and the stereotypes of ginger hair and giving the impression that he enjoys that he embraces his hair . The plus sign as well is interesting as it is call plus but instead of typing plus he puts the sign plus sign instead showing that his theme was to mainly keep the album cover simple with a picture of him giving him more priority than the cover and giving a persona .

Dizzee Rascals album cover is mainly that off humor as we do not see him but a star wars version of him being master Yoda giving a comedy vibe to the album cover However has essence of his face giving his identity away and giving the persona as well as showing the audience who he is mainly to his fans that why he has his name on the album case. Unlike the others it has the parental advisory logo showing that he has inappropriate content, this can further show who he is, as he is known for his inappropriate content. The background is a streetwise showing graffiti wall showing that he is streetwise.
